Tourists at the Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain, Rome, 2011
A lot of my time on the road is spent looking for and exploring out of the way and undiscovered places.  That's why we went to Puglia in 2011.  We saw very few Americans there which made it exciting to find places we'd never heard of before.

But, our exit airport was in Rome, so, since I'd never been there, we spent a few days checking it out.  I feel obligated to check out the blockbuster attractions the first time I visit a city and Rome has a wealth of these treasures.  Of course we saw the Vatican, the Coliseum, the Forum, the Parthenon, and the Trevi Fountain, made famous in the movies Three Coins in a Fountain and La Dolce Vita.
Because of its fame, the area around the Trevi is crammed with tourists.  And vendors of crappy trinkets.  And pickpockets.  Even with these drawbacks, the fountain itself is exquisite.  And it's required that you toss a coin in the fountain to ensure your return to Rome.

But, as with many of these crowded must-see attractions, I often end up taking more pictures of the people at the attraction than the attraction itself.  Hopefully, you'll find these pictures entertaining as well.
