Wedding in Cadiz, Spain

Cadiz, Spain
To get to Cadiz, you can drive (it takes about 30 minutes) or you can take a ferry from the docks in Puerto de Santa Maria. That trip takes about 40 minutes and is much more scenic. Plus, you don't have to worry about parking.

We went to Cadiz to check out the seaside, wander the gardens, and grab a gelato before heading back for dinner.

We did all those things and a lot more.

The ferry drops you near the northern tip of the peninsula and from there its easy to walk around and see all the sights.

We were delighted to stumble upon the guests arriving for a wedding at a church. Everyone was wearing their finest outfits and obviously very happy for the bride and groom.

Further north, we found ourselves in the middle of a huge gathering of young people on a square. They were talking excitedly and jostling for position to get a look at a notice posted on a wall.

It turns out we were at Cadiz University and the students were receiving their grades for the term that had just ended.

You can easily make your way around Cadiz in an afternoon, including some beach time at the famous La Caleta (you'll see it in the James Bond film Die Another Day) and still make it back to Puerto de Santa Maria in time for dinner.
