Royal Hawaiian Band, Honolulu, Hawaii

Royal Hawaiian Band with hula interpretation
Every Friday at noon, the Royal Hawaiian Band plays a free concert at the Iolani Palace most Fridays from 12-1pm.

The setting for the concert is quite intimate, with the audience grabbing a nearby chair and setting their seat close to the band under the shade of a giant tree. The band plays a variety of tunes from pop (we heard a medley of Henry Mancini songs) to traditional Hawaiian songs. On the day we went there was a female soprano and male tenor singing some of the songs and a hula dancer which added a nice flair to the afternoon.

The band was founded in 1836 by King Kamehameha III and performed at official functions like state occasions, parades and funerals. If you check out the band's website they detail its history and there's even a timeline of all the bandleaders dating back almost two hundred along with pictures going back over 100 years.
Iolani Palace
If you visit Hawaii, this would be an excellent place to bring the family as the concert is outside on the grass, giving the kids a place to play during the show. Afterwards, you could visit the palace which is a very popular attraction.
