Cape Elizabeth Lightouse, Cape Elizabeth, Maine
The Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse is also known as Two Lights. That's because of its history which begins in 1828 when there were two lights at the location.
Today the lighthouse is privately owned and is not accessible to the public. But, you can see light from the adjacent Two Lights State Park.
In 1885, a schooner ran aground on the rocks near the lighthouse. The keeper, Marcus A. Hanna, saved two crew members from the wrecked boat using a rope and later jumping into the ocean.
