Torquemada, Palermo, Sicily

After an evening of opera at the world famous Massimo Opera House in Palermo, we were starving. We went down a small side street near the opera house and ducked into Torquemada, one of the small restaurants lining the street.
We ordered a pizza and some wine. Look at the grill marks on the veggies; delicious! And the wine, served in an unassuming pitcher.
Nearby, a boisterous table of Spaniards was celebrating their friend's 50th birthday. They invited us to join them and what was going to be a quiet wind-down of a busy day, turned into a raucous evening of shots and laughter.
