On the eastern tip of Oahu is one of the most striking and popular spots in Hawaii.
A nice, flat part of the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail, Waimanalo, Hawaii
The Makapu'u Lighthouse trail is less than a mile long and paved with asphalt.

But, don't mistake it its short length and graded surface for an easy hike.

The road is pretty steep, I'd say it's a moderate walk.  Bring water, wear sunscreen. If you're not up for the steep hike, you can also take a short, flat trail to the water. I saw a lot of families with small children doing this.

The parking can be difficult, especially on weekends, and the trail gets crowded with families, kids, strollers and dogs.

You don't get a great view of the lighthouse, it's built into the side of the mountain, and you can only see it from a bit of a distance.

At the top you get a full 360 degree view of the beaches, mountains, volcanic rocks, tidal pools, and, in season, whales.
