Kenneth Hahn Recreation Area, Los Angeles
The Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area has been called Los Angeles' Central Park. And for good reason. It's huge. At 401 acres, it's one of the largest parks in L.A., and while it is not as lush as Central Park, it does have a great variety of flora and fauna.

The entrance to the park is kind of hidden away. In fact, a lot of locals are surprised it is even there because the area is mostly known for the blight of the nearby oil fields with drilling wells bringing black sludge to the surface.

We walked all around the park, but the highlight for me was the small Japanese in a corner of the park.

There's a nice pond filled with water lilies and stocked with koi.

Fun fact about the park: it was featured in Snoop Dog's music video Nothin' But a G Thang.
