The Ala Wai Harbor on Oahu is a large marina for small boats.

Because it cannot accommodate huge luxury yachts, much less cruise ships, it makes it an ideal place to wander and take pictures.

Just behind the Hilton Hawaiian Village (where there is a fireworks display every Friday night), the Ala Wai Harbor is easy to access and a great place to watch the sunset.

We've wandered around harbor both during the day and at night, and although it seems like some shady characters come out after dark, we've found them to be essentially harmless.

There's also a lot of restaurants nearby, but we've yet to find a real good one. Pro tip: stay away from the tofu poke at Charter House. Also, why the hell is there a Red Lobster in Honolulu? Better question, why is it always busy?
