Dragon Boat Races, Honolulu

Every year the Hawaii Dragon Boat Association holds dragon boat races at Ala Moana Park.

The 2018 races took place this past Saturday. Teams from all over the world come to compete in several divisions, with all skill levels.

Each boat has 16-18 rowers, a drummer, a helmsperson, and a flag catcher. Each race is 600 meters.

The races take place close to shore (one boat almost ran aground while I was filming) so it's easy to watch the boats. 

At the end of the day, trophies are handed out.
